And we have a bike maintenance program just for you.

This service was conceived for customers who depend on their bicycles for transportation throughout the winter, and know that it takes a huge toll on the bike and all of its parts. The Frozen Chosen Plan covers your bike now through March 31 of the following year. For one up-front fee of $227 (incl. $7 supply & recycling fee), we will tune your standard or folding bike and keep it serviced throughout the winter season. The labor fee is $297 for eBikes, large Cargo Bikes, Trikes and Tandems.

The package includes:

• Our top-level Deluxe Tune-Up

• $10 Bike Wash whenever needed (a godsend after a slushy, salty ride)

• Free adjustments and lubrication as often as needed (you will need them)

• Free labor on fixing flats (no more frozen fingers!)

• Free installation of parts and accessories purchased at Cosmic Bikes (we cannot install parts or accessories purchased at other shops or online as part of this service, however, we will gladly install them for you at our regular labor rates)

• Fee does not include parts.

• FREE PICKUP available for initial service with online purchase of this package within Chicago and nearby suburbs. Request at checkout.

You can reserve this service online by prepaying the labor charge. When you bring your bike in we’ll give you a complete quote including parts.

The ongoing maintenance and discounts included in this service cover the entire cold riding season from October through March 31 of the following year.

If you are planning to ride this winter, you really can't afford not to get this service. It is the best thing going in Chicago for winter bikers. And, the earlier you sign up for the program, the longer you get to enjoy its fabulous benefits.

Q. What is the biggest benefit of this over getting one of your regular tune-ups?
A. Although our top level Tune-Up comes with a 90 guarantee, it is not the same as the nearly 6-month long coverage you get with the Frozen Chosen. The $10 Bike Washes alone make it worth it after a single slushy ride, and keeping components clean and maintained throughout the messy season will significantly prolong their life.

Q. Does this include parts and labor?
A. The package covers labor only. You will receive a complete estimate including parts once we inspect your bike.

Q. Why $10 for each wash?
A. Actually, it's a steal. The normal price is $35 a la carte. The Winter-Tune includes a lot of free stuff, but we have to offset the additional cost of cleaners, rags and lubricants we use. And it's a pretty labor-intensive operation.

Q. I plan to ride this winter, but I have a bike I bought from Cosmic Bikes. Isn't it covered by some sort of plan?
A. Yes! If your bike is less than a year old, it is covered by the service plan included with your purchase. If your bike is close to, or over a year old, and you plan to use it for winter riding, we recommend purchasing the Winter Tune-Up.

Q. I have two bikes that I may use depending on road conditions. Would they both be covered?
A. No. Each Winter Tune-Up covers one bike. You may purchase an additional package for the second bike, or for other bikes in your household.

Q. Is this available for all bikes, including cargo or electric?
A. This program is priced to cover the majority of bikes including typical road, hybrid, touring and mountain bikes, folding bikes, recumbent bikes and most cargo bikes. E-bikes, frontloader cargo bikes, trikes and other extra-large, heavy or complex bikes are subject to a $70 one-time surcharge, payable when you bring your bike in for the initial service.

The Fine Print

• Please keep in mind that the prices listed are for Labor only. Many bicycles will require replacement parts for safe and proper functioning.

• All bicycles, including children's bikes, are vehicles, and require certain components to operate properly to ensure safety. We cannot be responsible for the safety of the components that you do not allow us to service or replace, and may therefore decline to perform any repair that will not result in a safely operating bicycle.

• We charge $7 supply and recycling fee on all our major tune-ups, complete assemblies and custom builds, and some a la carte services. This is to help offset the cost of cardboard recycling, and shop supplies and materials, including cleaners, lubricants, small hardware and shop towels.

• Labor Guarantee*
  All of our labor is guaranteed for 30 days. Specific services carry longer guarantees, as described above. We stand behind our services, and promise to make any needed corrections or adjustments free of charge during the period covered by the guarantee.

  • In rare cases, additional parts may be needed to correct the problem. With the exceptions of inner tubes on warranty flat repairs, additional parts are not included in the guarantee.

  • In order to keep track of your repair history, we keep detailed records of your services under your account. Our Labor Guarantees are non-transferrable, and apply only to the original purchaser.
