Buying a recumbent from your local store
We believe that all bikes should be sold in a face-to-face transaction with a competent consultant and service expert, and this is even more true of specialty bikes like recumbents.
If you really intend to use your bike and make it a part of your life, the bike purchase itself is not the end of a relationship with your shop, but a beginning. And it should be one you feel great about!
Your local recumbent dealer is your best resource for everything from the initial consultation and test-ride, configuring and ordering your recumbent, to ongoing maintenance and support after your purchase. If you have an established dealer in your local area, it makes no sense to order your recumbent online. This is so important, that it may even be worth investing some travel time to a dealer a couple of hours away if there isn’t one in your immediate area.
Here’s why:
Skilled, professional assembly
Recumbents are highly specific, and require thorough professional assembly to ensure their safety and longevity for many years of riding. This can take anywhere from 2-3 hours to even a full day for complex setups and e-assist recumbents with lots of modifications and accessories.
No matter how long it takes, one of our skilled mechanics will take ample time to assemble your new recumbent, and go over and thoroughly tune all systems to ensure that adjustments are perfect and will stay that way.
This will make your bike run better, feel better, and last longer.
Customized to your needs
We have a changing selection of demo recumbents in the shop available for test rides. Some are also available for immediate purchase, but we find that most recumbent buyers prefer to customize their new bikes. Countless configurations can be special ordered from the manufacturers within 1-4 weeks (longer for custom European products).
At Cosmic Bikes, we cut through the online hype, and take the time to research and partner with highly reputable companies, who have a track record of delivering quality products, excellent technical support, and —when needed— solid warranty service.
Once you’ve test-ridden some recumbents, we can order one on your behalf from the same selection you may be seeing online, help dial in the optimal configuration based on your express preferences (without questionable after-market modifications which void the manufacturer’s warranty), and put it in your hands fully assembled, prepped and tested.
Precise fitting
Once the bike is ready, we have you come in for precision adjustment, so that your new recumbent fits you well and you can enjoy the most efficient and ergonomic ride possible. This goes beyond the basic chain and boom tube adjustments, and covers everything from setting up your foot retention to adjusting the height and angles of the seat, hand and wrist supports, headrest angles, and fine-tuning any adaptive accessories.
We also make sure you’re familiar with all the systems, including folding, e-assist and cargo carriers if applicable.

After that, we can provide you with expert, ongoing maintenance to keep your recumbent humming.
The expertise of a competent local mechanic with ready access to a wide array of factory-authorized parts ensures correct functioning for rider safety and longevity of the bike.
This is something no online reseller can do.
Purchasing locally means you’re investing in your local dealer, and ensuring you’ll be able to get technical support on the ground for the life of your recumbent.
