Galien River County Park and Marsh Water Trail

Summary:

An aerial Canopy Walkway and a wetland boardwalk connect the upper woodland habitat to the extensive marshland along the Galien river just upstream from where it empties into Lake Michigan.

The Canopy Walkway leads to a 60’ overlook tower for truly breathtaking views of the river and its surrounds.

The 600’ Marsh Boardwalk meanders over the river surface, and leads to a generous fishing platform.

To explore the river by kayak, canoe or SUP board, you can use a nearby DNR Boat Launch, and paddle the slow moving river into New Buffalo. The current is generally tame, and paddling is possible both down and upstream.
