Harrington Beach SP

Summary

For a personal account, see my post on a solo midsummer Brompton overnight trip from Chicago to Harrington Beach.

  • 7 miles of hiking trails going through mixed woodland, swamp and 1 mile of Lake Michigan beach.

  • A 0.75-mile hiking trail circles Quarry Lake. The deep, serene waters of the 26-acre lake are surrounded by limestone ledges lined with white cedar trees. This trail is one of the highlights of the park, and offers plenty of cooling shade during summer months.

  • Having a bike makes getting around the whole park easier, as it covers a large area, with the campground located about a mile inland from the beach. The park provide shuttle bus service.

  • if you take the train from Chicago to Milwaukee, Harrington Beach makes a wonderful bike overnight destination, accessible via a series of dedicated bike trails.
